The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
