The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount; 1 And the Book written 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the lofty roof. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
