The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
