When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
