Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
