But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds. 83 Moses said: "O my people! If ye do (really) believe in Allah, then in Him put your trust if ye submit (your will to His)." 84 So they said: on Allah We rely, our Lord! make us not a trial for the wrong-doing people. 85 and save us, by Thy grace, from people who deny the truth!" 86 And We inspired Musa (Moses) and his brother (saying): "Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as places for your worship, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give glad tidings to the believers." 87 And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment." 88 Allah responded: 'The prayer of the two of you is accepted. So keep steadfast, and do not follow the path of the ignorant. 89 ۞ So We brought the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his troops pursued them arrogantly and aggressively. When he was about to drown, [Pharaoh] exclaimed, "I believe that there is no deity save Him in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who surrender themselves to Him!" 90 What! now! and indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers. 91 So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless 92
