[Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). 25 And ease my task for me; 26 Loosen the knot in my tongue, 27 (That) they may understand my word; 28 Appoint a deputy (for me) from my own people. 29 Aaron my brother 30 Strengthen me through him 31 and let him share my task 32 So that we should glorify Thee much, 33 and remember You abundantly. 34 You are surely watching over us. 35 He answered: "Granted is your prayer, O Moses. 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before). 37 When We inspired to your mother what We inspired, 38 'Put the baby into a chest and then throw him in the river. The river will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will take him.' And I spread My love over you in order that you might be reared in My sight. 39 When your sister went and said: Shall I direct you to one who will take charge of him? So We brought you back to your mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve and you killed a man, then We delivered you from the grief, and We tried you with (a severe) trying. Then you stayed for years among the people of Madyan; then you came hither as ordained, O Musa. 40 And I have chosen you for Myself: 41 So go forth, both you and your brother, with My Signs, and do not slacken in remembering Me. 42 Go both of you to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel. 43 But speak unto him in a mild manner, so that he might bethink himself or [at least] be filled with apprehension. 44 The two said:" Lord! We fear he may commit excesses against us, or transgress all bounds." 45 [Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. 46 Both of you go to him (Pharaoh) and say: "We are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel depart with us, and do not punish them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; peace be on him who follows guidance! 47 Verily we! it hath been revealed unto us that the torment will be for him who belieth and turneth away. 48 [But when God's message was conveyed unto Pharaoh,] he said: "Who, now, is this Sustainer of you two, O Moses?" 49 (Moses) said: "Our Lord is He who gave everything its natural form and directed it." 50 He said: then what happened to the former generations? 51 Moses replied, "The knowledge about it is with my Lord in the Book. My Lord is free from error and forgetfulness. 52 The One Who has made the earth a bed for you and kept operative roads for you in it and sent down water from the sky; so with it We produced different pairs of vegetation. 53 Consume them as food or for grazing your cattle. In this there is evidence (of the existence of God) for the people of reason". 54
