Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
