A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 neither cool nor good. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
