Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon darkens 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
