The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
