He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
