'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
