Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
