The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits abounding 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
