Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In an elevated garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 and no food except pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
