The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
