Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
