The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
