And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment. 73 "And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and carve out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth." 74 The haughty elders of his people said to those believers who had been oppressed: 'Do you know that Salih is one sent forth with a message from his Lord?' They, replied: 'Surely we believe in the message with which he has been sent.' 75 Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers." 76 Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: "O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!" 77 So the earthquake overwhelmed them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling places. 78 Then he turned from them, and said: O my people! Assuredly I delivered unto you the messages of my Lord, and counselled you good, but ye approve not the good counsellors. 79 We sent Lot, who said to his people, "How can you commit an abomination such as no one in the world has ever done before you? 80 “You lustfully go towards men, instead of women! In fact, you have transgressed the limits.” 81 And the only answer of his people was that they said, 'Expel them from your city; surely they are folk that keep themselves clean!' 82 Then We saved him and his family, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind (in the torment). 83 And We rained down on them a shower (of Stones). So witness the end of sinners! 84
