The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 wherein they will remain [in a state of bliss] forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 We have caused earthly things to seem attractive so that We can see who will excel in good deeds. 7 Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 8 Or, do you think the companions of the Cave and the tomb stone were a wonder among Our signs? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 We sealed their ears in the cave for a number of years. 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
