The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
