The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
