Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
