And certainly We created man, and We know what his mind suggests to him, and We are nearer to him than his life-vein. 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 He does not utter a single word, without a ready recorder seated next to him. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 You were heedless of this. Now We have removed your veil and so your vision today is sharp. 22 And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared." 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 who has set up with Allah another god. Indeed, you two, cast him into the terrible punishment' 26 ۞ His companion will say: Our Lord! I did not lead him into inordinacy but he himself was in a great error. 27 "Do not argue in My presence. I had announced the promise of doom in advance. 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
