▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty of death had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
