He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
