The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
