(Muhammad), recall Our servant Job. When he prayed to his Lord saying, "Satan has afflicted me with hardship and torment," 41 (The command was given:) "Strike with thy foot: here is (water) wherein to wash, cool and refreshing, and (water) to drink." 42 We restored his family to him, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder to all who are endowed with insight. 43 "Take a handful of herbs," (We said to him), and apply and rub them, and do not make a mistake." We found him patient in adversity, an excellent devotee, always turning in repentance. 44 AND CALL to mind Our servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, [all of them] endowed with inner strength and vision: 45 Indeed, We purified them with a most pure quality, the remembrance of the Everlasting Life. 46 And in Our sight, they are indeed the chosen ones, the beloved. 47 And remember Isma'il (Ishmael), Al-Yasa'a (Elisha), and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah), all are among the best. 48 This is an admonition, and verily for the God-fearing is a happy retreat: 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; 51 ۞ And with them are the pure spouses, who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, of single age. 52 'This is what you are promised on the Day of Recompense, 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 All of this; but, for the proud there is an ill return. 55 They will suffer in hell. What a terrible dwelling! 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 Taste the scalding water, pus, and other putrid things". 58 This is a crowd rushing in along with you; no welcome for them; verily they are to roast in the Fire. 59 (The followers shall cry to the misleaders:) "Nay, ye (too)! No welcome for you! It is ye who have brought this upon us! Now evil is (this) place to stay in!" 60 They will say: 'Our Lord, give those who brought this upon us double the punishment of the Fire' 61 And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked. 62 Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?” 63 Verily this is the very truth: the wrangling of the fellows of the Fire! 64
