The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
