The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virginal, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
