The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
