The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
