۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
