The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
