Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
