A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 The weighing that day is true; he whose scales are heavy -- they are the prosperers, 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
