'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 and believe in His messages 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 These hasten to good things and they are foremost in (attaining) them. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 in arrogance, as if you were abandoning a story-teller. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
