The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 by those who drive away the devil (to protect Our revelation), 2 And those who recite the Reminder, 3 surely your God is One, 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, 6 and have made them secure against every rebellious, satanic force, 7 These satans cannot listen to what transpires in the High Council for they are pelted away from every side 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 And they do not understand, when explained to. 13 and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 17 Tell them: “Yes; and you are utterly helpless (against Allah).” 18 It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing. 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
