Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 that We have revealed the Quran on a blessed night to warn mankind. 3 Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. 4 Amran (i.e. a Command or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), 5 A mercy from thy Lord. Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them - if you could but grasp it with inner certainty! 7 There is no god other than He, who gives you life and death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble apostle, 17 Saying: "Restore to me the slaves of Allah (i.e. the Children of Israel). Verily! I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust, 18 "And exalt not yourselves against God: for, verily, I come unto you with a manifest authority [from Him]; 19 "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. 20 And if you do not believe me, [at least] stand away from me!" 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 (Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 and cornfields and splendid buildings, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 We gave these as an inheritance to other people. 28 So the heavens and the earth did not weep for them, and they were not given respite. 29
