The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
