The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 weigh with an even balance 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
