Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
