He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
