The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 that hide, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
