The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 For a mighty day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how wretched the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
