Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
