A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 So undoubtedly We shall question those to whom Our Noble Messengers went, and indeed We shall question the Noble Messengers. 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 but he whose scales are light those have lost their souls because they were harmful towards Our verses. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
