The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 They say, "You to whom the Reminder [the Quran] has been sent down, you are surely possessed. 6 “Why do you not bring angels to us, if you are truthful?” 7 We do not send down angels without reason, and if the angels descend they would not get any respite! 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15
