Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), enlighten, for by the munificence of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night time, also glorify His Praises, and at the setting of the stars. 49
