The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
